Thousands of Verizon Wireless customers reported outages Monday morning, according to DownDetector, a website that tracks communications outages, in an issue Verizon says has since been fixed.
At 8:39 a.m. ET Monday, over 7,000 Verizon customers were reporting outages, with about 87% of those reported outages coming from Verizon mobile customers.
"Some Verizon Wireless customers experienced a short service disruption when calling landlines this morning," a Verizon spokesperson said in an emailed statement to USA TODAY Monday. "The outage lasted for a few minutes and is now resolved."
Locations that received a high amount of outage reports include New York City, Pittsburgh, Phoenix, Chicago and Charlotte, among others, according to DownDetector.
Verizon customers took to X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, to complain to the company about not being able to make phone calls.
