Karol G and Shakira took the charts by storm with their girl-power anthem “TQG,” and the 2023 Latin Grammys were no different for the Colombian popstars.
Karol walked away with the biggest prize of the night Thursday when her album “Mañana Será Bonito” won album of the year. The victory proved to be an emotional one for the “Provenza” songstress, who choked up with tears as she gave her acceptance speech.
“It’s an honor to receive this in front of so many people in music who I admire and grew up listening to,” Karol said in Spanish. “This album changed my life, and it’s incredible to me that it’s changed the lives of so many people.”

The singer, who’s helped redefine the once male-dominated reggaeton, also won best urban music album. “I can’t believe that this year's best urban album was won by a woman,” Karol said. “How cool!”
Meanwhile, Karol’s “TQG” collaborator Shakira swept in the song of the year and best pop song categories for her Bizarrap collaboration "Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53." The “Monotonía” singer, who’s released a string of heartbreak anthems following her split from ex-boyfriend Gerard Piqué, dedicated her song of the year win to sons Milan and Sasha.
“I promised them I’m going to be happy, that they’re going to have a mom who laughs with all the laughter she has because they deserve it,” Shakira said in Spanish. “From now on, I’m thinking of everything that’s to come: the songs I’m going to write, the tour I’m going to do, the fans I’m going to share with. Because like a friend of mine says, ‘There’s nothing in the past. Only the future is remembered.’ ”
